Insurance – For Singapore/PR Patients

MediShield Life is a basic health insurance plan administered by the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board, aimed at aiding Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) pay for large hospital bills and selected costly outpatient treatments. For example, dialysis and chemotherapy for cancer. It is structured to make healthcare more manageable in Singapore, so that patients pay less MediSave/cash for large hospital bills.
.

You can read more about Medishield Life here.
.

MediSave is a national medical savings scheme that helps Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs) set aside part of their income to pay for either personal or approved dependents’ hospitalisation, day surgery and certain outpatient expenses. Additionally, MediSave can be utilised for healthcare needs in old age.
.

MediSave withdrawal limits are adjusted to ensure that Singaporeans and PRs have adequate savings to support their basic healthcare needs later in life. Withdrawal limits will typically cover most charges incurred at subsidised inpatient wards and outpatient treatments.
.

You can read more about Medisave here.

MediShield Life is included in all Integrated Shield plans and will cover you for life. This consists of all pre-existing conditions and applies even if pre-existing conditions are excluded from your private insurer’s additional portion of your Integrated Shield plan.
.

If you have an Integrated Shield plan, you will also receive subsidies for the MediShield Life component, if eligible. These are the Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) available on the market.
.

.

Will I receive coverage for treatment at private or specialist clinics under my Integrated Shield Plan?

If your Integrated Shield Plan is under any of the approved private insurers listed above, you can expect coverage for your treatment. The enhanced plan is combined to provide protection on top of the subsidies received from your MediShield Life plan.
.

For more information on the withdrawal limits and coverage available to you, speak to your insurer.
.

What is the difference between MediShield Life and Integrated Shield Plans?

MediShield Life covers you for life, including any pre-existing conditions, even if it is not covered under one’s Integrated Shield Plan.
