Bringing Global Practice to Local Care: How We Treat First-Line DLBCL in Singapore – Highlights from the International Conference on Translational Medicine and Innovation of Blood Diseases 2025

Dr. Joanne Lee was honoured to present at the International Conference on Translational Medicine and Innovation of Blood Diseases 2025, held in Shanghai on “How We Treat First-Line DLBCL in Singapore”. The conference was jointly organized by the Shanghai Institute of Hematology, Ruijin Hospital, and the National Facility for Translational Medicine (Shanghai).

Dr. Lee shared a comprehensive overview of treatment strategies tailored to patient fitness, disease biology, and local healthcare systems—highlighting how international guidelines are adapted to Singapore’s clinical landscape.

Her presentation covered:

  • Localized DLBCL: The role of 4R-CHOP + 2R and PET adapted treatment.
  • High-risk IPI 3–5 disease: Incorporation of Pola-R-CHP for eligible patients, now on the Cancer Drug List in Singapore.
  • Double-hit lymphoma: Preference for intensive induction with DA-R-EPOCH.
  • Special populations: Including tailored regimens for elderly/frail patients, those with cardiac dysfunction, and immunocompromised hosts.
  • Radiotherapy and CNS prophylaxis: Evolving evidence and practice in Singapore, including approaches with HD-MTX and intercalated Pola-R-CHP.

Throughout her talk, Dr. Lee emphasized Singapore’s unique blend of evidence-based care, patient-cantered adaptation, and integration with national reimbursement frameworks such as MediShield and the Cancer Drug List (CDL). Her contribution sparked engaging discussions on how regional healthcare systems can personalize DLBCL care while keeping in step with global data.
